# Character Summary

> Risen by an Olive-Maria-from a crashed Golden Age colony ship, stranded underwater-in a ocean based society in Japan. Mitsu is a vulgar, loudmouth, and informal Enlightened woman. However, behind the ill-mannerisms, Mitsu possesses the capability to empathize with others and knows when to put aside her troubling personality (she is a big softie).

## Character Motivations, etc.

> During the late city age, an Olive-Maria-finds the corpse of Mitsu under an ocean based society in Japan. Mitsu's awakening finds herself encountering an underwater Coater faction, and was greeted by a hostile introduction. Her head is flooded with confusion, fear, and the realization of her life being endangered, as well as Maria. Irrationally, Mitsu is desperate for an escape, while faulting/blame Maria for dragging herself here. Maria, admits so, but for a reason: finding her own Guardian in the form of Mitsu, "I may gotten ourselves in this mess, but you're not alone. I'm here with you, Guardian." Upon hearing this, Mitsu is then presented with two choices: to run from the Coaters, continue being stranded underwater or forge an exit through adapting to her environment and overcoming the Coater threat.
>
> After exhausting every option in hopes of escape, Mitsu chooses to forge her own exit. Here, Mitsu's prologue gameplay starts as survival horror rather than the turn based combat in Old California route.
>
> Her encounter with the underwater Coaters has left her with a grueling first impression in a post-collapse world. She becomes overly cautious and paranoid of the new world upon resurrection by Maria. Routinely looking behind her shoulder for potential hostiles and hesitant to trust others outside the Bastion walls (you need a persuasion check to assure Mitsu you are friend), retaliating with aggression in sensing imminent danger.
>
> Mitsu's interaction and deduction of the Coaters and the adaptation the Coaters did to go underwater would motivate her to study and put Coaters down. Leading her to brashly be in support of Vaalin, vouching for him the deeper the Coater rabbit hole Mitsu goes down. She also wants to figure out what happened to the old city she respawned in, motivating her to go back to Japan multiple times solo. (Written by William H.)
>
> Sora and Maria had to do a lot of convincing to get Mitsu to join a Fireteam or build a Fireteam. On a recovery trip, she'd witness a group of survivors be killed from a Coater attack simply from a lack of Guardians since Mitsu was always solo. This motivated her to finally build a Fireteam, thus leading to Sam and Noir. (Written by William H.)
>
> Then the events of the story happen. (Written by William H.)
>
> Mitsu's motivation-aside from protecting the Salami and duties as a Guardian-lies with her one and only item she had since her resurrection, a shiny pendant with the inscription "My favorite delinquent". Due to her Guardian nature, she is unable to recollect where did the pendant come from. Still, she carries it with her wherever she goes and for as long as she is alive; pondering, searching for an answer to the question: where did it come from, and how did it end up with Mitsu?
>
> A constant question carried throughout her adventures during her formative years as a Guardian-the destruction of the Tainted Pome, pushing back the Chimera Kaiser, becoming a young Iron Chef, and uncovering the Tomb of Cyberblade. During the Age of Triumph era, Mitsu still has the pendant, being cautious and delicate with her keepsake as her along with Sam and Noir keep their heads up towards the future.
>
> In Chapter 2, Mitsu would get a glimpse of her past while freefalling in a memory domain during Meat Lovers Disciple mission. During her fall, she sees what she believes is her young self with another young girl together with their parents. One memory shows the little girl giving young little Mitsu a pendant, with an inscription "My favorite delinquent". Upon waking from the memory zone, Mitsu comes to realize her multiple Japan expeditions may have been for naught as she recollect some areas during the memory zone fall. So as her pendant, deduced to be a gift from someone she knows.
>
> In Chapter 4, Mitsu's pendant would catch the attention of a particular Neptunian and it is to be revealed they are a descendant of Tadashi Aoi-Mitsu's sibling from her past. That Neptunian would carry the other pendant, this time with an inscription "My favorite two eyes". Mitsu and Aoi's descendant are family. Upon this revelation, Mitsu has a personal reason to fight: to protect her new found family, to be there for them when she wasn't there for Tadashi Aoi. Since the Coaters have a grip hold on Neptune, Mitsu-with experience of Coaters in Japan-would full on support Ellis and Aqua in the Cursed Library Network mission and freeing Neptune from Coaters in general. The discovery of Mitsu's Neptunian family would change the canon event as she won't jump into the Relay portal opened by Dunnus, because if Mitsu jumped to return to Earth, then she would leave her family behind again and does not want that separation Tadashi Aoi felt when she was alive.
>
> During the Cursed Network Library, Mitsu would press the Ceasemind for answers, particularly why are the Coaters in Japan. In which is answered by simply the Coaters were researching Earth, observing and recording data during their Reconnaissance stage as preparation for invading Earth. But since the destruction of the Tainted Pome, the Ceasemind was dealt with a major dominion on Earth, decided to pull every Coater back and focused their efforts on Neptune. Except not every Coater, as a handful of Coaters from Japan remained in an event the Ceasemind resumed that Earth invasion plan.
>
> After the Cursed Library Network (and chapter 4), Mitsu is now equipped with the knowledge of the Coater's assimilation plan and that Coater faction from Japan will inevitably resume their invasion plan if they don't interfere and stop it. Granting Mitsu's new goal down the line: clean up the remaining Coaters in Japan, and prevent their plans of invading Earth on top of cleaning up her homeland-reclaiming and rebuilding new life upon the remnants of a Golden Age humanity.
>
> During the downtime of Chapter 5, Mitsu has a proper chance to catch up with her Neptunian family while awaiting her and F-097 return to Earth. Mitsu promises them visits to Neptune, video calls, and a trip to Earth when it is safe. For now, Aoi's descendant and their family say a farewell to Mitsu. Fireteam-097 return to Earth, and the story of Chapter 5 proceeds mostly the same as canon timeline.
>
> Due to the aftermath of Ch 1-4, the main cast are fully focus on rebuilding the Bastion. As consequence, Mitsu and F-097 routine trips to Japan become infrequent than before. Mitsu being impatient with this situation, along with the Salami portal, has to adapt being between a rock and a hard place situation like her first encounter with the Coaters.
>
> Sam's pursuit to rediscover her memories as Sam Clove would interest Mitsu since she's the first to find out her identity, and would in turn, help Sam along the process. Except Mitsu communing with the Earth Spirit Tree is especially a challenging process. Because of the thought of reliving the memories of Japan being bombarded by Boat Gang forces and Disciples if she wants to learn, to witness the destruction of Japan. So as the most harrowing, the separation of Mitsu and Aoi. What pushes Mitsu to keep going is both Noir's conversation with Phyryllis and after Sam successfully recovers her memories. In the end, Mitsu recovers her memories of Tadashi Mitsu, her time with her parents and sibling: Tadashi Aoi,
>
> *Past.* "Live. I am, and will always be there!" -Tadashi Aoi.
>
> *Present.* "To my sister, farewell. But...I will continue living for you." -Tadashi Mitsu, Enlightened Knight Guardian.
>
> Chapter 6.
>
> Mitsu's end goal: find out the source of the Coaters in the underwater city. Answer: Leftover Ceasemind forces upholding the Earth invasion plan.
